Qatar has expressed support for the recent decisions by the Netherlands and Belgium to halt the importation of goods produced in Israeli settlements. These actions are seen as a significant move toward addressing settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, which Qatar views as problematic.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement emphasizing that the bans align with international efforts to deter the expansion of settlements. The ministry highlighted that such activities are in violation of international law, specifically citing United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334. This resolution condemns Israeli settlement construction in the occupied territories as a breach of international law.
In its statement, Qatar also urged other nations to consider implementing similar measures. The ministry appealed to the global community to uphold its legal and moral obligations by encouraging Israel to cease settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian regions.
Reaffirming its commitment to the Palestinian cause, Qatar reiterated its endorsement of a two-state solution. It supports the establishment of a future independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
